How to use the hashtag generator
Type what your post or video is about, such as vegan recipes, travel photography or small business tips, and choose the platform. The generator suggests a mix of hashtags built from your own keywords and popular tags from the same niche, limited to the number that works best on that platform. Click Copy all to copy them together, or click any single tag to copy just that one. Use How many to show more or fewer.
Always read the list before posting and remove any tag that doesn't truly fit. A few accurate hashtags beat a long list of loosely related ones.
How many hashtags to use
| Platform | Allowed | What works well |
|---|---|---|
| 30 | 3 to 10 specific, relevant tags | |
| TikTok | No fixed number (caption limit) | 3 to 5, mixing broad and niche |
| YouTube | 15 (more and all are ignored) | 2 or 3; the first 3 show above the title |
| X (Twitter) | No fixed number (280 characters) | 1 or 2 |
| No fixed number | 3 to 5 |
Choosing the right hashtags
Mix broad and niche tags. Very popular tags such as #food or #travel have millions of posts, so yours disappears in seconds. Niche tags such as #veganbreakfast or #lahorefood have smaller, more interested audiences where your post can stay visible longer. A good set has one or two broad tags and several specific ones.
Be relevant. Platforms use hashtags to understand who to show your content to. Off-topic tags bring the wrong viewers, who scroll past quickly, and that tells the algorithm your content isn't interesting.
Check before you use a tag. Search a hashtag on the platform first to see what's posted under it. Some innocent-looking tags have been taken over by spam or are restricted, which can hide your post.
Make your own branded tag. A unique hashtag for your brand, event or series helps followers find all your related posts.
Where the hashtags come from
This tool runs entirely in your browser and doesn't connect to Instagram, TikTok or YouTube, so it can't see live trending data. It combines your keywords with a curated list of popular hashtags for common niches, which keeps it instant and private. For YouTube, pair your hashtags with a strong title from the YouTube Title Generator and a complete description from the YouTube Description Generator.
Write the rest of your post
Check that your caption and hashtags fit the platform's limit with the Character Counter. Clean up text copied from other apps, including stray symbols and line breaks, with the Text Cleaner. For YouTube, pair your hashtags with a thumbnail from the YouTube Thumbnail Grabber and an image sized with the Image Resizer.
Frequently asked questions
How many hashtags should I use on Instagram?
Instagram allows 30, but 3 to 10 specific, relevant hashtags usually perform as well or better.
Do hashtags still work on YouTube?
Yes. Add 2 or 3 in your description or title. The first three appear above the title, and more than 15 makes YouTube ignore them all.
Are these hashtags trending right now?
They're popular, established hashtags for each niche, not live trends. Check a tag on the platform before using it.
Should I use popular or niche hashtags?
Both. One or two broad tags plus several niche tags gives your post the best chance of being seen by interested people.
Is the hashtag generator free?
Yes, free with no sign-up, and it runs in your browser.
